RNA Summer Party: A Choc Lit Double!

It was lovely to catch up with so many friends both old and new at the Romantic Novelists’ Association Summer Party last night! It was especially good to see so many of those friends short-listed for both the Joan Hessayon New Writers’ Award and the Romantic Novel of the Year Award – congratulations to them all.

But what a night it turned out to be for Choc Lit! We’re so proud and pleased for Evonne Wareham, who won the Joan Hessayon New Writers’ Award for her novel Never Coming Home and Jane Lovering who triumphed in the Romantic Novel of the Year Award for her romantic comedy, Please Don’t Stop the Music . The judges said that Jane’s book was singled out for its “dark undertones” – adding “it engaged with issues a lot of people recognise”. And Jane, said… well Jane just answered in her own unique style! Huge congratulations to both our winners!

  7. Just got home to Wales – the balloons made sure that everyone noticed our progress, particularly when they made a spirited attempt at escape at Cardiff Station. Many, many congratulations to Jane. Many, many, many thanks to all the people who have taken time to send me messages. Still can’t believe it. And yes, Jane, you did say what you thought you said.

  8. I think you – Jane and Evonne – made us all feel like winners by association…..so very pleased for you both.
Great to be part of it all. What a great boss we’ve got!!

  9. It was a fabulous evening, and Jane, don’t worry about all that just yet – you have some time to go!!!

  10. I mean, you have plenty of years ahead of you before you need to worry about all that – obviously.
